Ice climbing is a winter climbing discipline. It involves climbing ice formations such as frozen waterfalls. Ice climbing in Les Contamines is located in Notre Dame de la Gorge.
The Frozen Waterfall at Notre Dame de la Gorge
In the well preserved site of Notre Dame de la Gorge, the local mountain guides work to maintain a frozen waterfall. Although the site is mainly used for initiation sessions, it is also freely accessible at your own risk.
Introductory sessions from 18h00 to 19h30 under the instruction of a qualified mountain guide: 26 €
For further information, please contact the Mountain Guides Office.
Frozen Streams
Equipped with crampons and under the supervision of a qualified guide, enjoy the experience of walking up a frozen stream at the heart of the local Nature Reserve.
This activity requires no special knowledge of ice climbing. Fun for all the family. Information and reservations at the Mountain Guides Office.
Ice climbing with a guide
The local mountain guides propose ice climbing progression sessions on the surrounding ice falls or spouts: Val Montjoie, Italy and in the Mont-Blanc range (for more experienced climbers).
